About Busy Bees Pre-School

Busy Bees pre-school was established in 1999 by Jane Bailey and Sharon Batchelor. It operates from the annex at the rear of the scout hall with access to a courtyard and also a large outdoor garden area. We currently have 36 children per session and take children from 2 years old and upward until they start school. We have very good links with our neighbour Portway Infant School and other settings and schools in the area.

We can offer early starts for children from 8.45am at a cost of £4.00, and also 9.00am at a cost of £2.00, and also 7:30am at the cost of £7.00(there are limited places available). We also offer a breakfast and after school club (Cool kids) which runs from 7.30am to the start of school from the pre-school room and 3.15pm to 6.00pm from the main hall of Portway Infant school. This is available to all Portway school children. The indoor environment offers children many varied activities and experiences in a safe and welcoming environment whilst being supervised by a very efficient, friendly and caring staff team.

The pre-school also has an outdoor fully enclosed courtyard area with a large Pergola for all year round access for outdoor play. The children can access this at their choosing so as to provide them with even more opportunities to expand and enhance their learning development. It is important that the children have suitable clothing and footwear when they attend pre-school so as they can access the outdoor areas at all times. The courtyard is fully enclosed to ensure the children’s safety at all times.

The garden area is also fully enclosed and the children can enjoy more physical activities in this space. There are areas to enhance their imaginative play outdoors, with “a telephone system through the trees, a variety of different natural malleable items for them to discover. There are also benches and log chairs where the children can sit and “chat” to their friends helping to enhance their Communication and Language skills. A mud Kitchen is also available for the children to use, this helps to enhance a wide variety of skills and knowledge.

The children also have access to the main hall which provides a big indoor space for more physical activities, when the weather is not so good.

If you wish to look around the pre-school, we are open Monday –Friday during term time only from 9.00am — 5.30pm please contact Lisa Brady 07882145051 who will be happy to arrange this.
